Privacy Policy

How Mickiki collects, uses and protects your personal information.

Last updated 29 September 2026

1. Who we are

Mickiki (Mickiki Properties, “we”, “us”) runs an online marketplace where people in Ghana find property for sale and rent, and where property owners, agents and agencies list property and receive enquiries.

We are the data controller for the personal information described here. We handle it in line with Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). You can reach us about privacy through our Contact page (choose “Privacy or my personal data”), by phone on 030 251 7051, or by post at School Junction, Nmai Dzorn Papafio Hills Road, East Legon, Accra.

2. What we collect

Account details: your name, email address, phone number, password (stored only in scrambled form by our sign-in provider) and account type. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.

Identity verification: property owners and agents give a Ghana Card or passport number and a photo or scan of the document. Agencies give their business details and registration number. Photos are re-saved when uploaded, which removes hidden information such as location data.

Listings and profiles: property details, photos, prices and locations, and agent or agency profile information you choose to publish.

Enquiries and messages: what you send through enquiry forms, messages and attachments, and private notes listers keep about leads.

Payments: what you bought, the amount, the date and a payment reference. Card and Mobile Money details are entered on Paystack's own checkout; we never see or store them.

Activity: saved properties and searches, recently viewed listings, notifications, and how often listings are viewed. We record a short-lived, scrambled form of visitors' network addresses to limit abuse (for example repeated sign-in attempts); we do not keep readable IP addresses.

3. How we use it

  • To run your account, show your listings and deliver enquiries and messages between you and other users.
  • To verify owners, agents and agencies, so people searching can trust who they deal with.
  • To send emails you need: account confirmation, password resets, security notices, enquiry and message alerts, receipts and verification updates. You can turn off enquiry and message emails in your settings.
  • To show you in-app alerts for saved searches and price drops you asked for.
  • To take payments for plans and featured listings, and keep records we are required to keep.
  • To keep the platform safe: preventing fraud, spam and abuse, and reviewing reported listings.
  • To understand how listings perform (for example view counts shown to listers).

4. Who sees your information

Other users: listings and public profiles are visible to everyone. When you send an enquiry, the lister (and their agency, if they belong to one) sees your name, email, phone number if given, and message. When a lister replies, you see their name and contact details. Your Ghana Card or passport is never shown to other users.

Our team: a small number of authorised staff review identity documents, reported listings and reviews. Every time a staff member opens an identity document it is recorded.

Service providers who process information for us under contract:

  • Supabase (database, file storage and sign-in), with data held in London, United Kingdom.
  • Netlify (website hosting).
  • Brevo (sending emails).
  • Paystack (payments).
  • Google (only if you choose to sign in with Google).
  • Have I Been Pwned (checks whether a new password appears in known data breaches; only the first five characters of a scrambled form of the password are sent, never the password).

Some of these providers process data outside Ghana. We choose providers that protect it to a standard at least as high as Ghanaian law requires.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

5. Cookies and similar technology

We use only what the site needs to work: a secure cookie that keeps you signed in, and small settings stored in your browser (such as light or dark mode, and guests' saved properties). There are no analytics or advertising cookies.

6. How long we keep it

  • Account information: for as long as your account is open.
  • Identity documents: while your account is active and for up to 12 months after it closes, to deal with fraud or disputes.
  • Enquiries and messages: while either person in the conversation still has an account, unless you ask us to delete them.
  • Payment records: for six years, as required for tax and accounting.
  • Abuse-prevention records: a few days at most.

7. Your rights

Under Ghanaian law you can ask to:

  • see the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct information that is wrong (most details can be edited in Profile & settings);
  • delete your account and information we no longer need to keep;
  • object to how we use your information, or withdraw consent you have given.

Contact us through our Contact page (choose “Privacy or my personal data”), by phone on 030 251 7051, or by post at School Junction, Nmai Dzorn Papafio Hills Road, East Legon, Accra and we will respond within 21 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.

8. Security

We protect information with encryption in transit, access controls that limit each user to their own data, private storage for identity documents and attachments, limits on repeated sign-in attempts, and checks against known-breached passwords. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you and the Data Protection Commission as the law requires.

9. Children

Mickiki is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we will tell registered users by email or in the dashboard before they take effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
